tears
today was interesting to say the least. i can honestly say i have always loved my dad with all my heart; i'm a daddy's girl.
i received a miniature yorkie when i was in the 3rd grade. She was rightfully named Tiger after the LSU tigers. she was my first dog. she automatically became attached to my dad, and my dad became attached to her. her tiny life is coming to a blunt end. a week ago she suddenly stopped eating and got really sick. she has spent the last two nights in the dog-hospital. today i went to visit her with my dad. we stood in front of her cage and were both fighting back tears. My dad picked her up and her whole body was limp. her eyes were just staring blankly. i couldn't stand to look at her any longer so i asked my dad if we could leave. we both got in the car and i was trying so hard not to cry. my dad put on his sunglasses as usual. i looked more closely at him and realized tears were streaming from beneath his sunglasses. at this point you are probably thinking my dad is weak or not manly or something, but i have never really seen him cry. within 2 minutes we were both sobbing. my dad said "shes dying" and we both continued to cry in each others presence. we sat in silence for the rest of the ride. i can honestly say i feel like today more than any day of my life i saw compassion in my dad that is uncomparable. i'm still shocked about this experience i shared in the car with my dad today. i will always remember it as the day my first dog virtually died, and the day that i realized how much i truly love my dad.
